The 60th annual ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) Convention recently took place in Rosemont, Illinois. Drawing in over 25,000 attendees, the event provided a platform for religious sessions, enlightening lectures, and various entertainment activities. This year’s theme, “60 Years of Service: Navigating the Way Forward,” encapsulated the convention’s rich history of contributions to American Muslims and set a vision for a brighter future.
The convention serves as a significant event in the American Muslim calendar, offering a unique opportunity for Muslims to come together, learn, and celebrate their faith. Renowned speakers, scholars, and activists graced the event, sharing their insights and knowledge. Imam Shakir described the convention as akin to a “family reunion,” where attendees reconnect with familiar faces and witness the growth and contributions of individuals they’ve known since childhood.
In addition to religious discussions, the convention also addressed pressing global issues such as climate change, mental health challenges, the Rohingya crisis, and the Palestinian conflict. Imam Shakir emphasized the importance of looking at the bigger picture and understanding the broader context of these challenges.
ISNA stands as the largest Muslim umbrella organization in North America, and its annual convention is a testament to its commitment to fostering unity, understanding, and growth within the Muslim community.
