Mohammed bin Salman’s Hardline Stance on Hamas: Leaked Statements Reveal Regional Strategy
Leaked statements suggest Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is pushing for the complete dismantling of Hamas, aligning with broader regional normalization efforts.
Watan-The famous Saudi Twitter user “Mujtahid” revealed statements made by Mohammed bin Salman during the “Brotherhood” meeting, which brought together the leaders of the Gulf, Egypt, and Jordan. The Saudi Crown Prince took a hardline stance against Hamas, emphasizing the need to crush the movement and completely disarm it.
According to Mujtahid, bin Salman expressed intense hostility toward the resistance, considering it the biggest obstacle to the comprehensive normalization project he seeks to implement in coordination with Trump and Tel Aviv.
Leaks indicated that bin Salman was not alone in this stance, as Sisi, the King of Jordan, and Mohammed bin Zayed shared his views. However, the latter two were more cautious in their statements, while bin Salman explicitly spoke about the necessity of completely eliminating Hamas.
The meeting saw a Gulf-Egyptian-Jordanian consensus that Hamas’ existence as an armed force poses a threat to regional plans and that its continuation would mean the failure of any political settlement sought by Washington.
The hostile position revealed by Mujtahid is not surprising, as bin Salman had previously stated publicly that the Palestinian cause was no longer of concern to him. He even went further by leading an aggressive media campaign against the Palestinian resistance through Saudi media outlets, most notably the “MBC” channel, which dedicated entire programs to demonizing Hamas leaders and accusing them of terrorism.
These statements and leaks confirm that under bin Salman’s rule, Saudi Arabia is moving toward playing a major role in liquidating the Palestinian cause, serving the Israeli occupation’s agenda and laying the foundation for a new phase of open relations between Riyadh and Tel Aviv.
