Turkey’s new Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, has shed his diplomatic persona to revert to his former role as the head of the intelligence agency. In doing so, he has issued stark warnings and threats to the United States concerning the situation in northern Syria. Speaking about the Arab tribes’ uprising against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and the “SDF” forces in northern Syria, Fidan stated, “We attach great importance to the Arab tribes’ uprising against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party in northern Syria.”
In a powerful statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s headquarters, Fidan remarked, “The SDF organization, supported by the United States, occupied the lands of the Arab tribes under false pretenses. We always knew this issue would turn into a matter of revenge.” He further emphasized that the SDF would inevitably be expelled from these territories.
Addressing the United States directly, Fidan said, “I urge certain countries, especially the United States, to stop pressuring the tribes using the SDF and to cease portraying the organization as a legitimate force in this region.” He concluded with a clear threat, stating, “What you’ve seen from the tribes’ uprising is just the beginning. More dangerous scenarios will emerge.”
Amidst this, a video has been circulating that showcases the Arab tribes in northern Syria displaying new weapons and missiles, preparing for a major battle against the SDF in Manbij. Some speculate that Turkey supplied these weapons.
In an attempt to defuse the situation, senior U.S. officials recently visited the oil-rich Deir Ezzor province to quell the Arab tribes’ uprising against Kurdish rule, which threatens stability in northeastern Syria. This uprising is the most significant threat to their rule since ISIS was finally expelled from a vast region in northern and eastern Syria in 2019.
