Israeli Captives in Gaza Plead for Release in Al-Qassam Video, Urge Public to Pressure Netanyahu

Two Israeli captives appear in a Hamas-released video, describing their dire conditions underground and calling on the Israeli public to push for their freedom.

Watan-On Saturday evening, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, broadcast a video showing two captives held in the Gaza Strip. In the video, the captives appeal to the Israeli public to pressure the government and its leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, to work for their release.

One of the captives appears in the video saying:“We stepped out for a moment to get some fresh air and see the sky and stars… The Israeli army decided to bomb us and hit the building I was in.”

He added:“We survived death with only scratches, thanks to Hamas fighters who risked their lives to get us out and bring us back into the tunnels. All of this was for your sake, Israeli government.”

He continued:“Once again, I return to a depth of 30 meters underground in a concrete box, without sunlight, without anything, and without hope of returning home or seeing my children and family.”

The captive called on Israelis to unite and fight for them by doing everything necessary to pressure the government and influence the Prime Minister to bring them home, emphasizing that they are dying in Gaza.

The other captive in the same video said:“Bring us home.”

He added:“Don’t believe what the state is telling you. They claim they’re putting pressure on Hamas—this is the result of that pressure,” referring to their targeting and injuries.

He continued:“Please, give the returning captives a chance to speak” (about what they experienced in Gaza due to the Israeli extermination campaign).
