Recently, Algerian TV host, Rayan Othmani, shared a startling image of the latest appearance of Moroccan King Mohammed VI. The photo, which was not officially released and seems to have been taken discreetly, suggests that King Mohammed VI’s health has significantly deteriorated. The side-profile image portrays him looking much older than his actual age, which is just around sixty. The left side of his face appears gaunt, indicating severe health issues.
Despite the animosity some Algerian netizens harbor towards King Mohammed VI, this image evoked unprecedented sympathy. The majority of the comments, exceeding a hundred, prayed for his recovery. While the exact location of the photo remains undisclosed, it’s known that the King is currently in France, having arrived there last Friday without prior announcement. Speculations suggest that his visit might be related to his mother, Lalla Latifa, who is reportedly ill.
King Mohammed VI suffers from complications of sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease that has severely affected his body. This rare condition primarily impacts the lungs in over 90% of cases. Despite the heart being rarely affected, in cases like King Mohammed VI’s, symptoms such as palpitations, chest discomfort, and general malaise can manifest. The King’s various treatments indicate that he suffers from this specific form of the disease.
His last public appearance in Morocco was on July 31, during a graduation ceremony for officers from various military and paramilitary institutes. This was shortly after a reception at the Royal Palace in Tetouan, marking the 24th anniversary of his ascension to the throne. Following this, he was reported to be vacationing in Al Hoceima, a coastal city, before news broke of his sudden trip to Paris.
