Saif Shukri's Disappearance in Dubai

Watan- In a series of unsettling events within a few months, Egyptian media reported the disappearance of Saif Shukri, a player of the Egyptian wrestling team under 23 years, at Dubai Airport during his return from the team’s camp in Kyrgyzstan in preparation for the World Championship. Saif El-Din Shukri decided to leave the Pharaohs’ delegation in Kyrgyzstan without informing the technical director or those responsible for the camp, according to Egyptian media outlets.

Shukri was scheduled to participate in the Mediterranean Beach Games, set to take place from September 9 to 16 in Heraklion, Greece. This isn’t the first time such an incident has occurred. Previously, the Egyptian wrestling team faced a similar situation when Ahmed Fouad Baghdadi, another team member, disappeared during his participation in the African Championship in Tunisia last May. This led to the referral of the Wrestling Federation’s board to the Public Prosecution.

Another incident involved the escape of a junior national team player, Mohamed Essam, after his participation in the World Championship in Italy. Commenting on the recent disappearance, Major General Essam Nawar, President of the Egyptian Wrestling Federation, stated that they are currently searching for the player and verifying whether he left the team or lost his way at the airport.
