Watan – In a recent public discourse that has rippled through Egypt’s political corridors, Mohamed El-Baradei, the nation’s former Vice President, has taken a firm stance against President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s comments on development. Al-Sisi, in his address on “Sho Al-Qissa,” had painted a picture of development that might require citizens to endure hardships, even to the extent of hunger.
Responding on the platform “X”, El-Baradei presented a vision that starkly contrasts with Al-Sisi’s. “The true measure of a nation’s progress lies in the well-being of its citizens. Before we ask them to sacrifice their basic needs, we must involve them in the conversation about the kind of development we envision,” he stated. Furthermore, El-Baradei’s words underscored the essence of the Egyptian spirit — a resilient people at the heart of the nation’s identity.
Against this backdrop, Al-Sisi’s campaign is in full swing. As he lays out his roadmap for Egypt’s future, the upcoming presidential elections loom large.
Al-Sisi, known for his direct approach, implied that the path to progress might demand sacrifices from the Egyptian populace. In addition, he urged unity and trust in the government’s direction, While addressing his detractors, he warned against skepticism and the spread of misinformation about state-led projects.
