Watan – Recently, Oman’s social media channels erupted with a shocking video from Khawla Hospital of a sizable rat navigating the advertisement boards within the hospital’s corridors. The sight, understandably jarring for patients and visitors, has since become a focal point of digital platforms.

The video elicited strong reactions from netizens, many of whom expressed their disapproval and held the hospital administration fully responsible for the incident. They called for an official investigation and demanded action against those responsible.

As the video trended, Khawla Hospital released a clarifying statement acknowledging the authenticity of the footage. However, they emphasized that the video dates back more than five years. Addressing the recurrent sharing of old clips related to the hospital, they expressed regret and reiterated the video’s age as over five years.

Regarding the services provided to patients, the hospital’s management stressed their commitment to enhancing the quality of services for all patients and visitors. They highlighted recent efforts, under the direct supervision of the Minister of Health and with significant support from the State’s Financial and Administrative Control Authority, to evaluate and monitor the performance of the contracted cleaning and pest control company. The hospital assured that they would not hesitate to take any necessary action in case of any shortcomings or violations in this regard.

The General Directorate of Khawla Hospital emphasized that the patient remains the central focus of the healthcare system. All staff members work diligently to offer the best services, and numerous initiatives are currently underway to improve the efficiency and quality of services provided by the hospital.

In a related context, back in 2019, Oman witnessed a pioneering procedure at the National Center for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Al-Sultani Hospital. The operation involved the implantation of a ventricular fibrillation inhibitor under the skin, eliminating the need to insert wires into the veins connected to the heart.
