Watan – Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, has issued a stark warning that the ongoing escalation of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the potential displacement of Palestinians could be the catalyst for a third world war. He emphasized that Malaysia will not hold back any diplomatic efforts to halt the massacres in the besieged enclave, underscoring the importance of protecting the Palestinians there.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Anwar Ibrahim drew attention to the potential consequences of displacing Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, especially in the event of an Israeli ground incursion. Such actions, he warned, could spark a global conflict.
Malaysia’s Prime Minister also announced the country’s commitment to provide urgent assistance to the besieged Gaza Strip, amounting to approximately 20 million dollars. This pledge was made during the launch of a national solidarity campaign with the Palestinian people.
Ibrahim expressed his concerns about the deteriorating living conditions in Gaza due to the crippling blockade and the repeated targeting of its infrastructure. He emphasized that the deployment of peacekeeping forces in the region would require the consensus of neighboring countries, a decision that is not easily made and requires utmost caution.
In the face of the brutal Israeli bombardment, the residents of the Gaza Strip are enduring some of the worst living conditions ever, exacerbated by the suffocating blockade and the frequent targeting of vital infrastructure.
It’s worth noting that Malaysia has been a staunch supporter of Gaza and Palestine. The nation has consistently advocated for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict and does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel. Anwar Ibrahim has previously affirmed that Hamas, having won power through free elections, is the legitimate representative of the Palestinians in Gaza. Malaysia continues its relationship with Hamas, resisting Western pressures to sever ties and condemn the movement.
