Watan – On September 7, 2023, after 16 years of waiting and childlessness, Fadi Khaled Al-Baba and his wife Wafaa Abdul-Khaliq Al-Sweirki were blessed with quadruplets. However, a month and a half later, Israel’s bombardment claimed the lives of the four infants (Khaled, Abdul-Khaliq, Mahmoud, and Maha) and their mother in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza.

The beds carefully prepared by their mother now lay soaked in their blood, following a brutal airstrike by the Israeli forces. Fadi Al-Baba, the grieving father who had waited 16 years for the birth of his children, now had to bury them just a month after their arrival.

Prominent Lebanese media personality Nishan commented on the tragedy, saying, “After 16 years of waiting, Fadi Khaled Al-Baba was blessed with four twins in Gaza, named Maha, Khaled, Mahmoud, and Abdul-Khaliq, who were only one month old. Last night, they were martyred… The children, the mother, and the father! This does not please God.”

Nezam Mahdawi, Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper “Watan,” wrote, “About a month ago, Fadi Khaled Al-Baba’s joy was indescribable after being blessed with four twins after 16 years. Yesterday, the four children were martyred. They were a military target for the state of crime and Israeli occupation.”

Yafa Abu Aker, a relative of Fadi, mentioned in local media statements that Fadi and Wafaa had been blessed with the quadruplets after years of waiting and faith. “He didn’t talk about anything other than his children. He slept and woke up next to them,” she said.

As is now a common scene in Gaza’s hospitals, which are overflowing with martyrs and operating at less than a quarter of their capacity, Fadi Al-Baba had to shroud his wife and children inside their home, still echoing with the sounds of Israeli warplanes. He buried them after a lull in the continuous airstrikes on the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the number of Palestinian martyrs due to the ongoing Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip has reached 3,500, with 23,000 injured. The Israeli occupation continues its intense and heavy bombardment of the besieged Gaza Strip for the thirteenth day, resulting in more than 3,785 martyrs and over 13,000 injured, with hundreds of bodies still under the rubble.
