Heartbreak Deferred: A Mother’s Final Goodbye to Infants Born After 11 Years of Waiting

Watan-The Palestinian woman, Rania Abu Anza, bid farewell to her two infant children who were martyred by an Israeli airstrike on Rafah in southern Gaza Strip.

Medical sources reported that 12 martyrs, including 6 children, were killed by an Israeli airstrike targeting the Abu Anza family home in the Al-Salam neighborhood, east of Rafah governorate.

The grieving mother appeared in a video carrying the bodies of her two children, saying, “Life has gone… they and my husband are gone… it’s not a loss with God.”

She looked at the bodies of the martyrs and said, “You’ve departed, my heart.”

The grieving mother said, “We were sleeping when we felt intense shelling, and suddenly I found nothing in my arms but rubble, while my children were absent due to the shelling.”

She added, “I gave birth to them after 11 years of marriage, and I hadn’t had enough of them yet. The residential building collapsed completely, while my sister’s family had evacuated to our house due to the Israeli shelling.”

Martyrdom of the Father She mentioned the martyrdom of her husband in the airstrike, saying, “This is my husband, my heart, my soul, and everything I have… we didn’t have these children until ten years into our marriage, and today they are killed by the Israeli occupation.”

She pointed to the body of one of her children, saying, “Please take a picture of this moon, this moon,” then kissed it multiple times, saying, “May her eyes delight, the token of her mother’s love.”

Israeli Massacre in Rafah These two infants were martyred in a brutal Israeli massacre, targeting the Abu Anza family home east of Rafah, resulting in the martyrdom of about 12 Palestinians, including children.

It’s worth mentioning that the aggression on the Gaza Strip has resulted in about 30,000 martyrs, and tens of thousands of wounded and injured in the ongoing war for nearly five months.
