Watan – In a revealing scene that exposes the pretense of Egypt’s support for Gaza, a senior Egyptian security official under the Sisi regime was seen dispersing a demonstration in Egypt that was in support of the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Strip is currently facing a major humanitarian crisis due to the brutal bombardment and blockade by the Israeli occupation.
A video showed the Egyptian official urging the protesters to disperse, using the phrase: “We got the shot already.” This provoked the anger of those present, who retorted to the official, “We don’t want a shot; we want results.” The clip has since stirred widespread controversy across social media platforms.
The demonstration in support of besieged Gaza took place in the city of Alexandria. The official was heard saying, “The Alexandria Library won’t work.”
Many online users praised the strong reaction of the Egyptian youth to the official’s request, despite the security oppression and intelligence pressures to silence voices. One user questioned, “How are these people so exposed?”
Another user commented that even if it was just for a shot, the strong response from the youth revived hope for Palestine and stirred stagnant waters, hinting at more significant actions to come.
Khaled Mohieddin tweeted, “It’s known that it’s just for a shot, but it’s good that they were exposed anyway so that people who didn’t believe can be convinced.”

Yaqoub Jassem believed that the intention behind such actions is to prevent demonstrations from turning into popular demands or those that call for the overthrow of the regime or the president, known for his notorious reputation in ongoing violations.
Residents of Alexandria organized demonstrations, which the Sisi media exploited to claim that they were held to mandate the Egyptian president. However, the chants were in support of Gaza, demanding an end to the blockade and the brutal bombardment.
Chants like “Palestine is the cause of the nation,” “No to displacement,” “Gaza and Sinai won’t be lost,” and “With soul and blood, we’ll redeem you, Al-Aqsa,” among others, were raised by the people of Alexandria.
