Watan-“A video clip captured poignant moments of rescuing several children ‘still alive’ from beneath the rubble of a building destroyed by the Israeli occupation forces. The video showed the moments of children being pulled from under the debris, with visible traces of blood on their bodies, while their faces bore the unmistakable signs of shock resulting from Israeli airstrikes.
Gaza has become a graveyard for children
with Gazan children paying a painful price for the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, accounting for over 70% of the war’s casualties and injuries, alongside women. To date, 4,237 children have been killed out of 10,328 martyrs, in addition to approximately 26,000 wounded, due to the destructive war waged by the Israeli occupation forces on the Gaza Strip for the past 33 days.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, confirmed that Gaza has turned into a cemetery for children. The International Committee of the Red Cross stated that the scenes of suffering and the children among the martyrs and the wounded will haunt everyone, describing what is happening as a moral failure.
Gaza’s children address the world to end their tragedy
In an attempt to draw the world’s attention to the tragedies they are enduring, children from the Gaza Strip held a press conference in front of Al-Shifa Hospital, calling on the world to stop the starvation, extermination, and displacement they are facing at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces, emphasizing the need to bring the killers to justice.
During the conference held in both Arabic and English, one of the children representatives said: ‘Since October 7th, we have been subjected to extermination, killing, and displacement, and rockets fall above our heads in full view and hearing of the world.’ He added: ‘(The Israelis) lie that they are targeting the resistance, but as children, we have escaped death more than once, seeking refuge at Al-Shifa Hospital from the bombings repeatedly.
However, we were surprised to find that the Israeli occupation now threatens us in this place, which has become our only sanctuary.’ The child continued: ‘The Israeli occupation is starving us, and for long days, we have had no water or bread, and we are forced to drink contaminated water.'”
