Bassel Mahdi… Palestinian Doctor Exposes Zionists Before His Martyrdom
The Palestinian Doctor, Bassel Mahdi

Watan-The name of the Palestinian doctor, Bassel Mahdi, trends on social media after his martyrdom at the hands of the Israeli occupation. This follows a poignant Facebook post he shared just hours before his death, where he passionately condemned the Zionists supporting the oppressive occupier, who indiscriminately kills children and women without any Arab or even international deterrent.

In his post, Bassel, who worked as an obstetrician and gynecologist at Al-Shifa Hospital, stated, ‘No one will die before their time, but some will die lacking dignity, humanity, and principles.’

Mahdi concluded his post with a message directed at the Zionists, especially those supporting normalization with the occupation despite the ongoing tragedy faced by the Palestinian people: ‘Your Arabism has faded, and may God neither welcome nor forgive you.

Mahdi, along with two other doctors, Hamam Al-Louh, a nephrologist, and his colleague Raed Mahdi, an obstetrician, met their end when the Israeli occupation forces bombed a private maternity clinic. The airstrike resulted in the tragic death of at least 20 individuals.

The Norwegian doctor, Professor Mads Gilbert, commented on the tragic event, saying, “We respect their courage and resilience, and we condemn their killing by the cowardly. We pledge to carry forward the torch of our brave colleagues”.

A follower tweeted on the platform, X, commenting on the martyrdom of Bassel Mahdi and his final message before his departure: ‘They are not just numbers; they are groups heading to the paradise of the Lord of the Worlds. As for us, we are numbers used in accordance with zero-sum equations.

The tweeter, Memories of Nasser, wrote: ‘A martyr in the eyes of his Lord, and how sweet the martyrs are in the eyes of the Lord of the Worlds. While America seeks to evacuate its citizens and foreign nationals, the Arab and Islamic nation witnesses, with tears in their eyes, the martyrdom of infants and the heroic martyrs everywhere, along with the bombing of hospitals. They await the approval of America and Israel to allow the entry of aid trucks.

There is growing anger among Arab countries, directed at their governments and regimes, due to their indifferent response to the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. The failure to open border crossings and take decisive steps to rescue children and women has fueled discontent. People in these nations are urging their populations to press for an end to the ongoing catastrophe that has persisted for more than 37 days.

Occupation forces bombed a maternity hospital, resulting in the martyrdom of two doctors. Israeli drones also opened fire on the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, and new airstrikes targeted residential areas in the north and south of the Gaza Strip, claiming the lives of more than 20 individuals. The total number of martyrs has now surpassed 11,100 people as of Sunday, November 12, 2023.
