Watan-The English Football Association has decided to dismiss one of its board members following a tweet in which Waseem Haq, an English football and golf sports official, drew a connection between the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. The tweet was made against the backdrop of the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza, now in its 39th day.

Waseem Haq wrote on his personal (X) account, stating, “Netanyahu sacrificed his people to maintain power. Adolf Hitler would be proud of Benjamin Netanyahu.”

The statement comes amid a situation where the people of Palestine in Gaza are facing what is described as a genocidal war and ethnic cleansing against civilians, including children, women, and the elderly. The conflict began on October 7 following a heroic operation by Palestinian resistance against settlements established on Palestinian land occupied in 1948, near the Gaza borders.

It’s worth noting that the toll of the Israeli war on Gaza has surpassed 11,000 Palestinian martyrs, the majority of whom are civilians, with over 28,000 sustaining various injuries, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
