Controversial WSJ article sparks outrage: advocating Palestinian deportation amidst Gaza crisis
Watan-The Wall Street Journal published an article by Israeli Knesset members Danny Danon and Ram Ben-Barak, advocating for the deportation of Palestinians to Western countries and urging these nations to accept them as a solution to end the Gaza crisis. This controversial article has sparked widespread anger among Arab activists on social media towards the American newspaper.
The contentious article, titled “The West Should Welcome Gaza’s Refugees,” blames Palestinian resistance and Hamas for the ongoing tragedy in the besieged territory, conveniently ignoring the main cause – the brutal Israeli occupation and the blockade on the Palestinian enclave for years.
The Knesset members endorsed by the American newspaper suggested that one possible solution to the Gaza crisis is for countries worldwide to accept limited numbers of Gaza residents who express a desire to relocate.
The WSJ article is steeped in Zionism
Under the guise of humanitarian concern, the article subtly suggests that “countries around the world should provide a refuge for Gaza’s inhabitants,” proposing that these nations achieve this goal by establishing international programs to settle Palestinians globally.
In response to the article, Palestinian journalist Nazem Al-Mahdawi criticized the Israeli Knesset members’ views in WSJ. The editor-in-chief of “Watan” newspaper commented, “For a newspaper like The Wall Street Journal to publish an opinion urging the West to accept Palestinian refugees only signifies the political and media degradation of the West.”
The fall of Gaza means the end of Arab regimes
Al-Mahdawi questioned the presentation of the article, condemning the call for the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land and stating, “How can any newspaper endorse or adopt an opinion calling for the deportation of Palestinians from their land unless it is immersed in Zionism?”
The Palestinian journalist concluded his comment by emphasizing that “the fall of Gaza means the end of Arab regimes,” highlighting the potential consequences if Gaza were to fall or its inhabitants forcibly displaced.
Al-Arabiya channel supports
It’s noteworthy that the Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya channel, known for its pro-Zionist media policy, did not hesitate to promote this malicious Israeli plan, presenting it on its screen as if it were merely reporting the news from a foreign newspaper, although the channel’s manner of presentation suggested an endorsement or promotion of the proposed idea.
Activists launched a vehement attack on Al-Arabiya in their comments, criticizing the channel for its handling of the malicious article. They asserted that the channel’s approach seemed like promotion of the article and endorsement of the idea.

a purely Israeli agenda
The calls for the displacement of Palestinians to various countries align with an Israeli agenda, as revealed by Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir. On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, he disclosed his support for a proposal from two deputies of the ruling Likud party and the opposition’s There is a Future party to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to countries around the world.
Israel, along with its supporting nations, aims to replicate the displacement of Palestinians from their lands in 1948 to Gaza, the West Bank, and neighboring countries. This displacement resulted from “massacres” carried out by armed Zionist gangs, paving the way for the establishment of the state of Israel on the occupied territories.
The Israeli military has been conducting a fierce war on the Gaza Strip for the past 39 days, destroying neighborhoods and causing the deaths of 11,240 Palestinian martyrs, including 4,630 children and 3,130 women. Additionally, the Israeli occupation has inflicted injuries on 29,000 individuals, with 70% of them being children and women, according to official Palestinian sources.
