Watan-The “Prisoners Affairs Commission” affiliated with the Palestinian Liberation Organization has reported that the number of martyrs in Israeli occupation prisons has risen to 5 since the beginning of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation.

In a statement, the commission stated that the count increased following the announcement of the martyrdom of a prisoner from the Salfit governorate in the northern West Bank on Monday. The martyr is “Abdulrahman Ahmed Mohammed Marai,” a 33-year-old from the town of Qarawat Bani Hassan in the Salfit governorate, who was held in Megiddo Prison.

According to local sources, the martyr Abdulrahman is the brother of the Qassam martyr Mohammed Marai, who was assassinated in 2005. Additionally, he is the cousin of the Qassam martyr Adnan Marai and the released Qassam prisoner Salama Marai, who was deported.

New Assassination Crime

The committee responsible for prisoners and liberated individuals indicated that Marai had been “detained since February of last year, married, and a father of four children,” considering what happened to Marai as a “new premeditated assassination crime.”

According to information provided by the lawyer, the occupation authorities will conduct an autopsy on his body on Wednesday. The committee noted that Marai is the fifth martyr in the occupation’s prisons since October 7th of last year, including a martyr from Gaza whose identity is not known.

Hamas mourned the prisoner Marai, and Zaher Jabarin, the official of the Martyrs, Prisoners, and Wounded Affairs Office in the movement, stated in a statement reported by Palestinian media: “We mourn the mujahid prisoner Abdulrahman Marai, whom the occupation executed in a war crime, and our people will defend their prisoners.”

Referring to the martyr as a descendant of a militant family that has sacrificed its sons as martyrs on the path to freedom, the statement emphasized that the continued Zionist occupation’s escalation of its crimes against prisoners, employing internationally prohibited methods, has now led to the execution of five of them, the latest being the martyr Abdulrahman Marai.

With the announcement of the martyrdom of the prisoner Marai, the number of martyrs in the captive movement since 1967 has risen to 241 martyred prisoners, including 15 whose bodies are still held by the occupation.

Names of martyrs in the captive movement since October 7th:

  • Omar Draghmeh, 58 years old, from Tubas.
  • Arafat Hamdan, 25 years old, from Ramallah.
  • Majd Zaqoul (Abu Al-Aish), 32 years old, from Gaza.
  • The fourth martyr from Gaza, identity unknown.
  • In addition to Abdulrahman Marai, 33 years old, from Salfit.
