UAE Mediates Secret Security Talks Between Israel and Syria

Amid rising tensions, the UAE has launched a discreet backchannel to facilitate security-focused dialogue between Israel and Syria’s new leadership, seeking to build trust and regional stability.

Watan-Three informed sources revealed that the United Arab Emirates has opened a secret communication channel to mediate talks between Israel and Syria, at a time when Syria’s new leadership is seeking regional support to manage increasingly hostile relations with its southern neighbor.

According to a knowledgeable source, a senior Syrian security official, and a regional intelligence officer, these indirect and previously undisclosed contacts are centered on intelligence and security matters and aim to build trust between the two countries, which have no formal diplomatic ties.

The first source described the effort, which began shortly after Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa’s visit to the UAE on April 13, as currently focused on “technical issues,” noting that there are no limits to what discussions may eventually cover.

The senior Syrian security official confirmed to Reuters that the backchannel is strictly limited to security matters, particularly concerning several counterterrorism files.
