Watan-Qatar has announced the achievement of a temporary humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza after 46 days of the war initiated by the occupying forces against the besieged territory.
In a statement released on its “Ex” platform account, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “Qatar declares the success of joint mediation efforts with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), resulting in an agreement for a humanitarian ceasefire to be announced with a starting time within 24 hours and lasting for four days, extendable.”
According to the Qatari Foreign Ministry statement, the agreement includes the exchange of 50 prisoners, including civilian women and children in Gaza, in the first phase in exchange for the release of a number of Palestinian women and children held in Israeli prisons. The numbers of those released will increase in later stages of the agreement.
The ceasefire allows for the entry of a greater number of humanitarian convoys and relief aid, including fuel allocated for humanitarian needs.
Qatar, according to the statement, reaffirms its diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation, prevent bloodshed, and protect civilians.

Hamas Announces the Deal
On its part, Hamas has confirmed reaching a ceasefire agreement, which includes a cessation of hostilities from both sides. The agreement entails the halting of all military actions by the occupying forces in all areas of the Gaza Strip, and the cessation of the military movement of its vehicles within the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Confirmation
While the Israeli government officially approved the prisoner exchange deal and the establishment of a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip early Wednesday morning. This decision came at the end of a Cabinet session that extended into the early hours, chaired by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. All ministers endorsed the deal, with the exception of three extremist ministers affiliated with the Religious Zionist Party.
According to a statement from the Israeli government, it approved the broad outlines of the first phase of the agreement, in which at least 50 detainees, including women and children, will be released over a period of 4 days during which a ceasefire will be in effect.
President Biden’s response to the deal
In response to the development, President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday that he is fully satisfied with Israel and Hamas reaching a 4-day ceasefire. During this period, Hamas will release 50 women and children among the prisoners in Gaza, in exchange for the release of Palestinian women and children from Israeli prisons.
Biden stated in a White House-issued statement, “I am fully satisfied because some of these brave souls will be reunited with their families once this agreement is fully executed.”
