20,000 Martyrs Since the Start of the War on Gaza

In a tragic toll from the conflict that began on October 7th last year, the Euro-Mediterranean Observatory for Human Rights reported that the number of casualties from the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip has surpassed 20,000 martyrs, according to data from its field team in Gaza.

The center’s director, Rami Abdo, stated in a release, “The team completed an updated tally of the victims, including those we were able to count who are under the rubble, considering the lack of chances of finding survivors.”

He added that the number of those who perished reached 20,031, including 8,176 children, and the number could rise as more victims are recovered. He explained that such a figure, along with the wounded, represents 2.6% of the population in Gaza, equivalent to 11 million Arab citizens.

According to the center, the number of injuries reached 36,350 people, and the number of displaced persons reached 1,730,000 citizens during the Israeli war on Gaza. The Israeli occupation’s airstrikes completely destroyed 59,240 housing units, and 156,300 housing units were damaged.
