Watan-As the world’s attention focuses on Gaza, the Bashar al-Assad regime insists on redirecting the media lenses and activists’ cameras toward Syria, specifically in the southern countryside of Idlib. This is to prove that it is no less heinous than the Israeli occupation, which committed atrocities and massacres in various Palestinian territories.
Syrian journalist Ahmed Rahal shared a painful video documenting how the Syrian regime forces, along with their Russian and Iranian allies, committed a horrifying massacre against two families working in olive harvesting within the Jabal al-Zawiya area, south of Idlib.
The footage showed men and women covered with tarps and rugs specifically for their work, gathered in one place. It appears that preparations are being made to transport them to their final resting place after being martyred by the fire of the Syrian regime and its allies, as confirmed by Rahal.

Targeting of Two Families in Idlib
Forces of the regime and its allies, including Russia and Iran, shelled the village of Qoqfin in the southern countryside of Idlib. This resulted in the loss of 11 lives, including 7 children. All of the casualties belonged to two families, Qadi and Al-Saeed, with one of the victims being a four-year-old child who was present in the olive harvesting area.

The White Helmets organization in Syria documented, during the past month of October, the martyrdom of 66 civilians, including 23 children and 13 women. More than 270 others were injured, including 79 children, 47 women, and 3 volunteers from the civil defense, due to airstrikes and shelling by the Syrian regime forces and their ally, Russia, in northwestern Syria.
The civil defense affirmed that the regime forces committed three massacres during the month of October, with the majority of the victims being children and women.

The first massacre occurred on the night of Thursday, October 5th, with the Syrian regime forces targeting a residential house belonging to a displaced family in the town of Kafrnouran, west of Aleppo, through rocket shelling. This resulted in the death of 5 civilians from one family (an elderly disabled woman and her four young sons and two women), and an additional woman was injured.

The White Helmets (Civil Defense) affirmed that the ongoing bombardment by the Syrian regime forces and their allies in northwestern Syria poses a threat to the lives and stability of the residents, especially farmers during their olive harvesting work. This continuous shelling deprives them of their livelihood, which is almost the sole source of income in the region.
While the temporary ceasefire associated with Gaza entered its second day, the Syrian regime persists in targeting and killing Syrians who supported and demonstrated solidarity with Gaza through various protests and forms of support.
