Watan-Following the viral video “Spirit of the Soul,” which garnered widespread attention globally, depicting the intense pain of a Palestinian grandfather embracing his granddaughter, a new clip has surfaced featuring a Syrian child shocked by the martyrdom of his mother at the hands of Assad forces in southern Idlib. The scenes are no less poignant than those witnessed in Gaza.
The footage reveals a child, Ahmed, whose mother fell victim to the Syrian regime’s artillery shelling targeting agricultural areas in Mount Zawiya. The shelling resulted in a massacre that affected two families while they were harvesting olives.
The video portrays Ahmed, whose mother and five siblings were killed by the Syrian regime’s artillery, grappling with a profound shock that even adults might struggle to bear, highlighting the immense emotional toll on his young shoulders.
Heartbreaking Video of Syrian Child: “I Want My Mom… I Want to See My Mom”
In a poignant video, a Syrian child can be heard desperately pleading, “I want my mom… I want to see my mom,” while those around him attempt to console him. Someone beside him is seen trying to embrace and alleviate the child’s profound anguish.
The incident occurred when the forces of the regime and its allies, including Russia and Iran, shelled the village of “Qoqfin” in the Mount Zawiya region in the southern countryside of Idlib. The attack resulted in the tragic death of 11 people, including 7 children, all belonging to the families of “Qadi” and “Al-Saeed.” One of the victims, a four-year-old child, was present at the olive harvest location.
While the world’s attention is focused on Gaza, the Assad regime insists on redirecting media lenses and activists’ cameras to Syria, specifically in the southern countryside of Idlib. This serves to underscore that the regime’s actions are no less criminal than the Israeli occupation, which has committed atrocities and massacres in various Palestinian territories.
