In Her Own Words: An Israeli Captive’s Letter of Gratitude to Qassam Brigades Before Release
The Israeli captive, Daniela, and her daughter, Emilia

Watan-One of the released detainees with the Qassam Brigades sent a thank-you message to the fighters of the brigades, expressing gratitude for their humane treatment of her and her daughter throughout their stay in Gaza before the implementation of the prisoner exchange deal.

This statement serves as a refutation of what the Israeli media has been accustomed to promoting, claiming that Hamas deliberately holds hostages in miserable conditions, assaults them, and subjects them to torture.

The former Israeli detainee, Daniela, stated in a handwritten letter in Hebrew, published by the military media of the Qassam Brigades, that her daughter Emilia feels like a queen in Gaza. She expressed gratitude to the resistance for ensuring that her daughter left without experiencing psychological trauma, thanks to the humanity of the resistance fighters.

Addressing the captors who handed her over on the first day of the temporary truce between Hamas and the occupation, she said a day before her release: ‘It seems that we will part ways tomorrow, but I thank you from the depths of my heart for your extraordinary humanity shown towards my daughter Emilia.’

She added, ‘You have been like parents to her, and she acknowledges the feeling that you are all her friends, not just acquaintances but real, good beloved friends.

A Queen in Gaza

Daniela continued, ‘Thank you for being patient with her, immersing her in sweets and fruits, and everything available, even if it wasn’t abundant.’

She added that children should not be in captivity, but thanks to you and other kind people we met along the way, my daughter considered herself a queen in Gaza.

She concluded, ‘We haven’t encountered anyone on our long journey, from the members to the leadership, who didn’t treat her with gentleness, compassion, and love.’

She emphasized that ‘your kind behavior here came despite the difficult situation you were dealing with yourselves and the heavy losses you endured here in Gaza.’

Earlier on Monday, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that an agreement had been reached to extend the humanitarian truce in Gaza for an additional two days.

Meanwhile, Hamas stated that it had reached an agreement with mediators in Qatar and Egypt to extend the temporary humanitarian truce for two days under the same conditions as the previous truce.”
