Echoes of Suffering: Gaza’s Humanitarian Crisis Unveiled in a Child’s Journey for Food
The Struggle of Palestinian Child Qasim in Delivering Food to His Displaced Family.

Watan-In a scene depicting the severity of the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli war, met with resilient determination by Palestinians, a video has circulated illustrating the struggles of Gazans in providing food.

The scene is encapsulated in the story of the child Qasim, who is compelled to walk four hours on foot to deliver food to his displaced family in the southern Gaza Strip.

In the video, the Palestinian child is seen carrying some food items on his head, explaining that he has to walk on foot due to the difficulty of transportation (amidst the fuel shortage in Gaza resulting from the imposed blockade on the region).

A Gaza Child’s Message to the World

Ghasem, who represents the plight of many Gaza children like him, sent a message to the world, saying, “May God be sufficient for us, and what an excellent trustee He is against the Israeli occupation.”

Warnings of Famine in Gaza

Amidst the tragic conditions in Gaza, the World Food Programme, a UN agency, warned of the danger of famine in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the UN program said that the supplies are woefully inadequate to address the hunger levels observed by its staff in UN shelters and other displacement locations. It added that Gaza residents, especially women and children, are highly susceptible to the risk of famine unless continuous access to food is ensured.

According to the statement, the program provided essential food to over 120,000 people in Gaza during the initial period of the humanitarian ceasefire.

Catastrophe Unfolding Across Gaza

Karin Fischer, the director of the World Food Programme for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe, stated, “Thanks to the temporary ceasefire, our teams have started working on the ground, entering areas we haven’t reached in a long time. What we are witnessing is catastrophic.”

She added that the threat of famine and death by starvation is unfolding before everyone’s eyes, emphasizing the urgent need for the program to bring and distribute food widely and safely to prevent such a disaster.

In emphasizing the urgency of the situation, it has been stressed that a mere few days are not sufficient to provide all the required assistance. The assertion is made that the residents of Gaza need to have access to food every day, not just for a limited period of six days.

Brutal Israeli War on Gaza The Israeli occupying forces initiated a destructive war on the Gaza Strip since the seventh of October of last year, resulting in over 15,000 casualties, including more than 10,000 children and women. Approximately 7,000 people remain missing, while the number of injuries has surpassed 36,000.

The Israeli war on Gaza included the imposition of a comprehensive blockade on the territory, leading to a devastating humanitarian catastrophe.
