Clinton Faces Campus Backlash: Students Protest Alleged Support for Gaza Genocide at Columbia University

Watan-Protesting her stance on the war in Gaza, former U.S. Secretary of State and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton faced harassment and chants from a group of protesting students as she was leaving one of the buildings at Columbia University in New York.

Video footage showed several activists vociferously expressing their opposition to Clinton, accusing her of supporting the genocide of Palestinians during her visit to the university.

Students were observed sitting on the ground, holding signs opposing the Israeli war on Gaza, accusing the renowned American diplomat of supporting the genocide carried out by the occupying army against Palestinians. Hillary, who teaches at the university, was met with chants of “Shame on you, shame on you” as she left one of the buildings.

Students displayed a banner with the inscription “Columbia’s hands are stained with blood,” and as Hillary passed by them, they shouted, “You support genocide.”

On Clinton’s face, signs of displeasure were evident as she attempted to ignore the students’ chants to prevent any escalation or loss of control.

It’s worth noting that this protest scene is not the first of its kind; earlier, a group of Columbia University students withdrew from a lecture delivered by Clinton in protest of the U.S. position supporting the war on Gaza.

While Clinton was giving her lecture, there was a protest in the building’s lobby, forcing the American diplomat to leave through a back door.

It’s worth mentioning that on November 15 of the current year, 43 organizations affiliated with Columbia University issued a statement urging the administration to stop supporting the Israeli apartheid system and cease suppressing pro-Palestinian activities. Is

The statement highlighted the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza, including the bombing of hospitals and schools, cutting off food and water, and the killing of thousands, mostly children and women.

On October 12 of the previous year, Columbia University closed its campus to the public ahead of planned protests, one from “Students for Justice in Palestine,” and the other from students supporting Israel.
