43 rabbis had issued a fatwa to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, permitting the bombing of Al-Shifa Central Hospital in Gaza City. This decision came after tens of thousands of Palestinians had sought refuge there due to the bombing of their homes.
Rabbi Elimelech Wasserman and Asraman, the dean of the Rabbinical Court in Ashdod, was killed at the age of 73. Described as one of the veteran judges in the Israeli judicial system, he was assassinated on his way to the court.
According to Rabbi Yosef Rosenfeld, who prayed with Rabbi Elimelech Wasserman and Asraman for many years, the latter had previously battled cancer and had recovered.
Three killed in the Jerusalem operation
Three Israelis, including the mentioned rabbi, were killed, and others were injured in a shooting attack in Jerusalem.
Israeli occupation authorities reported three fatalities and 12 injuries, some of them serious, in an operation carried out by two Palestinian brothers at the northwest entrance of Jerusalem. The attackers, later martyred, were identified as former prisoners affiliated with the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, from the village of Sour Baher south of Jerusalem.
Hamas claims responsibility for the Jerusalem operation
In a statement, the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, announced, ‘The Hamas resistance movement extends its condolences to our great Palestinian people, the Arab and Islamic nation for its martyrs, the Qassamite brothers Murad Muhammad Nimr (38 years old) and Ibrahim Muhammad Nimr (30 years old), from the heroic town of Sour Baher. They carried out the martyrdom operation this morning in the occupied Ramot settlement in Jerusalem, resulting in the killing of three settlers and the injury of others.’
Hamas added, ‘As we mourn our martyrs, the Mujahideen, we emphasize that this operation came as a natural response to the unprecedented crimes of the occupation, including heinous massacres in Gaza, the killing of children in Jenin, the wide-ranging violations against our prisoners in occupation jails, and the ongoing violations at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, including the prevention of worshipers from accessing it.’
The statement continued, ‘The occupier should feel the heat in every city, village, street, and alley. Our people’s heroes are mobilized to avenge the martyrs’ blood, repel aggression, and do not yield to any channel until the occupation is swept away. Our free Palestinian people do not accept oppression and will not remain silent in the face of the Zionist genocidal war against their rights throughout the homeland.
