Watan-“Your dad, I saw him as a martyr… maybe he’s really asleep.” With these heartbreaking words that pierce the heart, Palestinian children share the pain of the Israeli occupation’s bombardment of their family home in Gaza during the ongoing 58th day of war.
“I saw your dad as a martyr… what do you know? Maybe he’s just asleep”
Palestinian journalist Ahmed Abu al-Rous captured a poignant video where children discuss amongst themselves the fate of their father after the Israeli bombardment of their home in Gaza.
One of the children, tearfully speaking inside the hospital, said to another, “Your dad became a martyr,” to which the sibling replied, “What do you know? Maybe he’s just asleep, or maybe he’s a martyr.”
The child who informed them of their father’s martyrdom, while crying, responded, “I saw it… he became a martyr.”
Israeli Occupation Massacres Against Civilians in Gaza
The Israeli occupation continues its brutal massacres against civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, in various parts of the Gaza Strip since the declaration of war on October 7th of last year.
The latest of these massacres perpetrated by the Israeli military through intensive airstrikes on residential areas was a massacre within a residential block in the Shuja’iya neighborhood, east of Gaza City. Additionally, a school belonging to the Holy Family was targeted northwest of the city, resulting in the martyrdom of hundreds of civilians.
These atrocities occurred after the temporary humanitarian ceasefire brokered by Qatar and Egypt expired last weekend between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli occupation. The ceasefire aimed to release hundreds of civilian prisoners, including children and women, by both parties during its duration.
According to the latest statistics from the Gaza government’s media office, more than 15,000 Palestinians have been martyred, including 7,000 children and 4,000 women. Over 38,000 individuals have sustained various injuries, while more than 7,000 are still missing under the rubble of the destroyed homes due to the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.”
