Gaza Journalists Unite, Singing During Their Break Period

Watan-A video clip described as “moving” has circulated, featuring journalists in Gaza catching their breath for a brief moment amidst the Israeli war on the region.

Several journalists were seen taking a break from the rigors of event coverage, joining together in song to alleviate the burdens of war on themselves.

In this poignant scene, journalists in Gaza, led by Wael Al-Dahdouh, a correspondent for Al Jazeera and its bureau chief in the Gaza Strip, were captured singing “We Will Stay Here.”

Dozens of journalists have become martyrs in Gaza

Since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza on October 7th, at least 75 journalists have lost their lives among the more than 15,500 martyrs during this brutal conflict. Many journalists in Gaza have also experienced the loss of family members or the destruction of their homes, actions classified by the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate as “assassination operations and a deliberate decision by the occupation government.”

Reports indicate that from the first day of the war on Gaza, the Israeli government granted its military the green light to target journalists. Anyone carrying a camera in the field has become a target for the occupying army in an attempt to conceal the crimes being committed in Gaza.

Journalists have been arrested and detained in the occupation’s prisons

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate announced days ago that the Israeli forces arrested 41 journalists, both male and female, from October 7th to November 28th. Subsequently, 12 of the detainees were released after varying periods of incarceration.

Human rights and professional organizations and unions have accused the Israeli military of intentionally targeting journalists. In response, the Israeli army asserted that it cannot guarantee the safety of journalists.
