Watan-In a recently aired video on Al Jazeera, Reservist General Yitzhak Brick, a member of the Israeli Occupation Army, has acknowledged that they are far from achieving their purported objective of eliminating the Islamic resistance movement, Hamas.
He stated, “If we closely examine what is happening now, we find that we are indeed inside the Gaza Strip for days, fighting against Hamas and the Islamic Jihad… Today, we control 80% of northern Gaza, and there is another 20% that needs attention, specifically the area of Zaitoun and its surroundings.”

He added, “The primary goal for which we waged the war is to eliminate Hamas and the Jihad, and I deeply regret that we are very far from achieving this objective.”
Reservist General Yitzhak Brick explained the reason for this, stating, “There is a city of tunnels built beneath the Gaza Strip, under the city of Gaza and under Khan Yunis.”
He pointed out that both Hamas and Jihad movements have tens of thousands of fighters, casting doubt on the numbers announced by the occupying army, claiming to eliminate resistance fighters.
Tens of Thousands of Resistance Fighters Roam in Tunnels
Yitzhak Brick continued, “Even if thousands are killed, they have tens of thousands roaming in the tunnels, and the main goal is to reach them and eliminate them.”
He added, “If we haven’t been able to reach the majority of them until this moment, we are very far from achieving our goal.”
Yitzhak Brick emphasized that no matter how much the Israeli army announces the destruction of tunnel openings, Gaza has thousands of openings that are still in use.
Growing Anger in Israel Towards Netanyahu
Increasing frustration is sweeping through Israel due to the failure of the occupying army to achieve the objectives it claimed to be fighting for in the war on Gaza. The current authorities are also being held accountable for the security lapse following the October 7th attack.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces internal criticism for refusing to take responsibility for the failure to anticipate the Palestinian resistance’s attack on settlements near the Gaza border on October 7th.
Opposition Leader Calls for Netanyahu’s Resignation
Yair Lapid, the leader of the Israeli opposition, has accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of being responsible for what he described as the disaster that befell Israel on October 7th. Lapid is demanding Netanyahu’s resignation and the formation of a new government from within the Knesset.
In a speech published on the “Ex” platform, Lapid asserted that Netanyahu continues to make significant mistakes and cannot remain in his position as the head of the government for even one more minute.
He added that the time has come for Netanyahu’s government to step aside, stating, “The person who caused the biggest disaster during his term must leave our lives.” Lapid’s call reflects the intensifying dissatisfaction in Israel over recent events, particularly the perceived failures during the conflict with Gaza and the subsequent security concerns.
