Watan-The Hebrew website ‘Srugim’ has revealed an Egyptian vision for a solution after the brutal Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which involves integrating the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, with the Palestinian Authority, according to the site’s claims.
The website quotes Egyptian sources discussing Cairo’s vision for the solution, which envisions the incorporation of Hamas into the Palestinian Authority and its involvement in the Palestinian Preventive Security apparatus.
According to the Egyptian vision, Mahmoud Abbas will serve as an honorary president, with the establishment of a Palestinian technocratic government led by Salam Fayyad. The plan includes a demilitarized buffer zone between Israel and the Palestinians.
Egyptian Vision for a Solution in Gaza
The Egyptian perspective on resolving the situation in Gaza involves the formation of a government guaranteed by Egypt, an Arab partner, an international entity, or the United Nations. Another proposed solution includes the ‘absorption of Palestinian war refugees by Egypt.’
The source mentioned that ‘high-level Israeli figures have raised the question of whether it would be appropriate to hand over control of the sector to the Palestinian Authority under the leadership of Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).’ Therefore, the option of displacement seems to be gaining traction.
Netanyahu and high-ranking figures in the U.S. administration believe that the current format of the Palestinian Authority cannot effectively control Gaza. The Prime Minister of Israel alleges that Abu Mazen supports and funds terrorism, according to his characterization.
Egyptian Rejection of Displacement
The source emphasizes Egypt’s categorical rejection of any form of displacement for Palestinians, emphasizing the importance of facilitating aid flow to sustain life within the Gaza Strip.
According to the ‘Srugim’ website, Cairo is seeking to return to the negotiating table to achieve a fair and comprehensive peace, based on the Oslo Agreement framework.
Netanyahu’s Plan for Palestinian Displacement
The occupying force seeks to implement a plan described as malicious, involving the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and reducing their numbers to a minimum, as reported by the Hebrew newspaper ‘Israel Hayom.’
Despite the characterization of this plan as unrealistic and impractical, its presentation in the Israeli media reflects Israel’s intentions to displace the inhabitants of the land, making it uninhabitable by destroying its infrastructure.
The newspaper states that the plan was devised by the Israeli ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, at the request of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The plan aims to reduce the population of Gaza, a move viewed by the Israeli security leadership as a fantasy that cannot be realized. However, Netanyahu insists on it, challenging all American and Egyptian positions, which, according to observers, may be subject to change if offered bribes to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in exchange for securing his stay in power and supporting his faltering economy.
According to the newspaper, the plan bypasses American resistance and Egyptian rejection, aiming to gather Palestinians and bring a significant number of them into Egyptian territory through a narrow border strip within the Gaza Strip called the ‘Salah al-Din Axis’ or the ‘Philadelphia Axis,’ as referred to by the occupation.
