Unveiling the Gaza Crisis: Occupation, Displacement, and Sisi’s Controversial Role
The Occupation Resorts to Coercion Intensifying Raids and Bombardments to Force Palestinians Toward the Border with Egypt

Watan-The situation is worsening every minute,” as stated by UNRWA in describing the Gaza Strip, which is witnessing a sinister plan evidenced by scenes showing thousands of displaced Palestinians streaming towards the borders with Egypt after being forced there by the occupation. A prominent Palestinian media figure has called on Egyptians to take a step that he deems “the only solution” to escape a major tragedy that will not only impact Palestine.

Reports have long warned of a potential deal that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi might broker, making him a party to the displacement process in exchange for financial privileges. All the slogans raised by him and his regime may be in vain.

With these scenes accompanying the military operations shifting to southern Gaza, the threat of displacement becomes a serious reality, evident in all the on-ground facts.

Gaza Residents Caught Between the Brutality of Occupation and the Option of Displacement

The occupation resorts to the strategy of coercion, forcing civilians with no means of escape from the brutal Israeli attacks, executed in a maniacal and savage manner, to consider the borders with Egypt as their only viable choice.

In recent days, the Israeli occupation targeted dozens of buildings in the Khan Yunis and Rafah neighborhoods, as well as Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

Among those buildings is a structure housing multiple families, and dozens of bodies were seen in video footage from the scene. Medical sources in Gaza reported that the airstrikes resulted in the death of at least 45 people and the injury of dozens.

According to reports from Haaretz on December 6th, there is growing concern about an increasing influx of refugees, potentially leading Egypt to reluctantly open its borders despite the Egyptian regime’s opposition to such a move.

Sisi’s Role in the Displacement of Palestinians

This points to a potential deal that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi might strike, securing Western funds in exchange for executing the occupation’s plans and justifying the actions as forced due to a large influx of Gaza residents towards the Egyptian borders.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry stated on December 6, 2023, that the Israeli occupation ‘is attempting to confine Palestinian refugees in Gaza and direct their movement towards the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

Palestinian Factions Warn Against Falling for the ‘Displacement Project’ from Gaza

Palestinian factions have cautioned against succumbing to the ‘displacement project’ from Gaza, affirming their unified stance to resist the conspiracy aiming to force the people towards Sinai.

Media figure and member of the Egyptian Parliament, Mustafa Bakri, closely associated with the authorities, acknowledged on his platform (X) that the Israeli occupation’s plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza to Egyptian Sinai has entered its final stages.

Bakri began shaping public opinion for the plan’s execution by praising the policies of his regime’s leader, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and pre-justifying the events at the border, suggesting that it aims to put Egypt in an awkward position.

As for the issue of displacement, Palestinian journalist and editor-in-chief of the newspaper ‘Watan,’ Nizar Al-Mahdawi, addressed the Egyptian regime, tweeting on the X platform: ‘O sons of Egypt, those who stand against the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza to Sinai reinforce their resilience by opening the crossing and asserting their sovereignty to send relief materials, food, and necessities for the people of Gaza to stay in their lands.’

He added: ‘The occupying state has destroyed all the foundations of life in the sector. They bombed hospitals, disrupted the entire healthcare system, targeted water tanks, even wells, and obstructed food, water, electricity, and medicine.'”

The Only Solution” to Stop the Displacement Scheme

Furthermore, in addition to being fascist war crimes, Israel is working to eliminate all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip and push civilians toward the borders with Egypt so that they willingly leave. “This is the nature of civilians and their survival instinct that will drive them towards the sea or towards the borders,” added Al-Mahdawi.

The Palestinian media figure urged Egyptians not to believe Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who has repeatedly claimed to be against displacement and resettlement. He also cautioned against trusting the United States, stating that the only solution for Israel to maintain its security today is to either liquidate or expel Palestinians from their lands.

The Mahdawi regime sees El-Sisi as unable to take any action if refugees flow, except to resort to shooting them. It believes he won’t engage in a war with his ally Israel and the United States, as his army is unprepared for any conflict. The Egyptian army has been crippled and drowned in economic challenges, factories, and sales, and in the past, it failed to prevent the theft of the Nile and the relinquishment of Tiran and Sanafir.

The Palestinian journalist concluded his tweet, directing Egyptians toward the only solution that may stop this extremely dangerous plan in the entire Arab region before Palestine: “Your popular will, O people of Egypt, is what will prevent resettlement, and this will only happen by opening the Rafah crossing and compelling the Zionists to send aid without conditions and restrictions.”

He concluded, “And by God, this is preferable to waiting, as at that time, you will be unable to do anything, and the Zionists will then govern Egypt and the entire region for decades to come.”

Israel Places a Bet on Sisi

In a joint conference with German Chancellor Georg Schultze in Cairo last October, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi previously called for the relocation of Palestinians in Gaza to the Negev Desert instead of the Sinai Peninsula. This proposition was put forth as a temporary measure until the completion of the military operation carried out by the occupation forces in the Gaza Strip, under the pretext of eliminating resistance.

Sisi stated, “If there is an idea for relocation, the Negev Desert is available for Palestinians to be transferred to until ‘Israel’ completes its declared plan to eliminate resistance or eradicate armed groups such as ‘Hamas’ and ‘Jihad,’ and others if they so desire.”

According to the relocation plan pursued by Israel and the United States, which is modified compared to previous plans that faced opposition from influential Egyptian authorities, and as disclosed in public statements by high-level political figures in Egypt, it is proposed to absorb hundreds of thousands of Gazans in Egyptian cities after the war concludes.

This plan is structured for a longer timeframe with gradual steps, aiming to avoid rejection from Egyptian authorities and the military establishment, as reported by Hebrew sources.

In this context, Israelis cite Egypt’s capacity to absorb hundreds of thousands of Syrians following the crisis in their country as an example.
