Palestinian Child Survives Four Days Under Rubble Without Food or Water

Watan-A Palestinian girl named Maria Abu Saffi endured four days without food or water beneath the debris, following the Israeli forces’ bombardment of her home in the Gaza Strip.

Throughout the harrowing four days, Maria remained trapped under the rubble with her younger sister, deprived of sustenance, hydration, and even proper clothing until rescue teams successfully extracted her, miraculously alive.

The young girl recounted her ordeal in a video, saying, “Four days with no food or water. My sister kept telling me she was hungry and thirsty. They brought a school bag to our doorstep with a water bottle, but after the rubble, I couldn’t find it.”

She continued, “My sister’s leg was injured and bleeding. So, I carried her, and we went to our small room. We found a torn blanket, and there were no pillows. We wanted to sleep, so we used a stone instead of a pillow.”

She went on, “The room was full of rocks. When I tried to move, my back hurt. I just wanted to stretch my legs, and I had to adjust myself so my sister could rest.”

The girl recalled, “I found a body wearing gray pants and a purple blouse. I was afraid it might be one of my siblings. I didn’t open her face, and I couldn’t figure out who she was.”

Ongoing Massacres in Gaza as Israeli War Enters Day 62

The Israeli war on Gaza has entered its 62nd day, with the death toll steadily rising, especially among children who have become tragic victims in the current conflict.

Occupation forces committed further massacres in Khan Yunis, Jabalia, and Gaza City, pushing the number of martyrs beyond 16,000 and leaving 43,000 wounded, a majority of whom are women and children.

Calls for Ceasefire Intensify

As the dire situation in Gaza worsens, calls for an immediate ceasefire have escalated. Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) nations and the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, have urged the establishment of a ceasefire in Gaza and swift action to address the humanitarian crisis. Paris has also called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the region.

The G7 leaders, in a statement, expressed their support for a new ceasefire in the region and endorsed the establishment of a Palestinian state. They declared their commitment to working closely with partners to contribute to creating the necessary conditions for lasting solutions in Gaza.

The G7 voiced deep concern about the devastating impact of the war on civilians in Gaza and called for the opening of new crossings, especially with winter approaching, to meet all needs. This would supplement the Rafah crossing at the border with Egypt.

Additionally, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, along with representatives from approximately 50 countries and international organizations, called for the respect of international law in Gaza and the immediate establishment of a new, permanent humanitarian ceasefire.
