Watan-Patients at Al-Mashtal Baptist Hospital in Gaza are enduring indescribable and tragic conditions, receiving healthcare on the floor and sleeping in hallways and open spaces. The hospital’s rooms and wings are overcrowded with casualties from Israeli airstrikes.

A report by Al Jazeera sheds light on the hospital, which has become a target for the occupying army following allegations of tunnels beneath it used by the Al-Qassam Brigades. The hospital has been repeatedly destroyed, and it witnessed a massacre at the hands of the occupying forces, resulting in the loss of hundreds of lives.

Catastrophic Conditions Inside Al-Mashtal Hospital

A visual report reveals patients lying on the back of a truck in the hospital courtyard, with a person assisting them. One survivor passionately screams, ‘Where is the world, where are the people, where are the Arabs?’

Another individual sitting next to the injured discloses that they were struck by shells that fell on the market in the Jabalia area. The victims, as he mentioned, were displaced individuals seeking refuge with UNRWA.

The Al Jazeera report, observed by (Watan), discloses that the rooms and corridors of Al-Mashtal Hospital in Gaza City are packed with casualties from Israeli airstrikes, awaiting the minimum level of care.

The channel’s correspondent noted that cases are arriving at the hospital sequentially from the northern Gaza Strip after the healthcare sector there completely ceased operations.

The reception area appeared congested with wounded and injured individuals, some lying on the floor due to a lack of available beds. One of the injured individuals stated that he needs surgery but has been waiting for an extended period.

Waiting for Treatment

One doctor, who appeared standing in front of a patient, stated that his patient has a heel fracture. It has been three days, and his wound hasn’t been changed, and he hasn’t undergone surgery yet. As he mentioned, he is supposed to enter the operating room, waiting for his turn.

He continued, emphasizing that the health situation in the hospital is extremely dire, with insufficient medical staff, and there are no ambulances in northern Gaza.

He revealed that only 4 ambulances are left in service, and he confirmed that the number of injuries is extremely high. The remaining medical staff cannot cope with the overwhelming situation. Additionally, there is a shortage of medical equipment, including basic supplies like ‘serum.
