Biden’s Unprecedented Criticism of Israeli Occupation: A Turning Point in US-Israel Relations
Joe Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu

Watan-For the first time since the “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm” and the beginning of the war between Hamas and Israel on October 7th, President Joe Biden has made unprecedented statements openly and explicitly criticizing the Israeli occupation and its crimes in the Gaza Strip.

During a fundraising event for his election campaign in Washington, Biden said that the Israeli government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, is losing support due to the indiscriminate bombing of the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing for more than three weeks after the ceasefire.

This comes after what observers described as embarrassment, isolation, the use of the veto, and the failure of the Zionist war to achieve any strategic goal in the Gaza Strip, as well as rebellion and criticism within Biden’s Democratic Party.

Biden describes Netanyahu as an extremist!

Biden said that Netanyahu needs to change his government, the most extremist in Israel’s history, and emphasized that “the safety of the Jewish people is literally at stake,” according to his description.

Addressing Israel, the U.S. President stated: “Do not make the mistakes we made on September 11th, as there was no justification for many things, such as the occupation of Afghanistan.”

Biden continued, “There are real concerns around the world that America may lose its moral standing because of our support for Israel.”

He added, “Bennett and his colleagues don’t want anything to do with the two-state solution; they just want revenge from all Palestinians, and we must unite the Israelis in a way that leads them to choose the two-state solution.”

Biden reiterated his previous statements expressing continued support for Israel but refraining from aligning with what Netanyahu’s government desires: “If there were no Israel, we would have to invent one.”

Professor Abdullah Al-Shayji, head of the Political Science Department at Kuwait University, tweeted on the (X) platform that it is clear Biden wants to embarrass Benjamin Netanyahu and his government. He believes the Israeli Prime Minister will be forced into a humanitarian ceasefire, aid delivery, and the exchange of prisoners and hostages.

Another opinion came from the tweeter Ali Hashem, who wrote: “Misleading statements… Yesterday Biden was saying he’s a Zionist and that he supports stopping the bombing in Gaza. What happened now??? Defeatist statements to get them out of the ceasefire?”

Rebellion and Chaotic Situation

Another tweeter referred to what he described as “rebellion and chaotic situation for Israeli soldiers in the Gaza border camps,” adding that “the state of panic and fear experienced by the soldiers in Gaza led them to rebel against their leadership and refuse to participate in the war.”

The American newspaper The New York Times pointed to a state of division between Israeli occupation and the U.S. administration that has come to light with Biden’s statements.

The spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, Matthew Miller, mentioned in a press conference that Israel is not exempt from U.S. policy, which stipulates that any country receiving American weapons must adhere to the laws of war, referring to the use of white phosphorus crimes.
