Watan-The results of a survey conducted by the “Palestinian Center for Political Research” showed a rise in the popularity of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, and resistance factions in Gaza and the West Bank, accompanied by a decline in popular support for the Palestinian Authority led by Mahmoud Abbas.
The reputable Palestinian institution’s survey confirmed that three-quarters of Palestinians were satisfied with the “Aqsa Flood” operation against Israeli occupation in Gaza on October 7, 2023. They affirmed that the choice of war was the correct one.
This reflects that the Palestinian choice for war against the occupation and resistance until the complete liberation of the occupied territories is not only a decision of Hamas alone. The movement would not have taken such a step without its awareness of the significant popular support for the Aqsa Flood.
The survey results confirmed a significant increase in support for Hamas among Palestinians, particularly after the war that followed the Aqsa Flood operation in Gaza. This increased support for Hamas in both Gaza and the occupied West Bank, juxtaposed with a decline in the popularity of the Palestinian Authority and its leader, Mahmoud Abbas.
The war that followed the Aqsa Flood operation in Gaza heightened the support for Hamas in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. This contradicts Mahmoud Abbas’s claim that the Palestinian Authority is the sole representative of the Palestinian people. Even in the West Bank, the popular support for Hamas appears to be much greater, as evidenced by survey results and the supportive actions during the Israeli onslaught against the besieged Palestinian territory.
According to the survey results, 72% of participants supported Hamas’s decision to launch an attack across the southern borders of the occupied state, considering it a “correct” decision based on its outcomes so far. Only 22% mentioned that the decision was “wrong,” while the remaining percentage either had undecided opinions or did not provide an answer.
