Watan-In a sign of an Israeli military failure amid the significant losses incurred at the hands of Palestinian resistance, the occupying authorities have taken a step towards the path of negotiations regarding the issue of prisoners and detainees in Gaza.
The American website “Axios” stated that an upcoming meeting will bring together the director of the Mossad, David Barnea, and the Qatari Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, in Europe at the end of this week to resume prisoner negotiations.
The website, citing an informed source, revealed that the significance of this expected meeting lies in being the first between senior Israeli officials (the director of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad) and Qataris since the collapse of the seven-day ceasefire, followed by an escalation of the Israeli war in southern Gaza.
According to the source, Israel’s return to the negotiation table indicates its readiness to explore a new deal regarding the prisoners’ file.
The report stated that the previous deal deviated from its course two weeks ago after Hamas rejected releasing the remaining women it holds.
Hamas blamed Israel for the collapse, stating that the proposed release of these women was as soldiers in the occupying army.
Hamas still detains more than 130 prisoners, and over 100 individuals have been released as part of a deal that halted the fighting in Gaza for seven days.
Unannounced Contacts
The website revealed that behind the scenes, Qatari mediators contacted Israeli officials at the end of last week to inquire about the interest in resuming indirect talks with Hamas regarding a new deal.
A source stated that such an expected agreement could include humanitarian elements, such as releasing elderly individuals and those with serious medical conditions or releasing prisoners who have sustained serious injuries.
At the end of last week, following the initial Qatari proposal, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and members of the Security Cabinet decided not to allow the head of Mossad to travel to Qatar.
After a strong reaction to the decision, Netanyahu changed course and allowed Barnea to engage with the Qataris, according to Axios.
The shift in the Israeli position is linked to the magnitude of military losses suffered by Israel at the hands of Palestinian resistance during intense ground battles.
Abu Ubaida Showcases Devastating Strikes by the Occupation Army
Abu Ubaida, the spokesperson for the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), revealed in his recent speech on Friday that Qassam fighters were able, in the last five days, to target more than 100 Israeli military vehicles.
Abu Ubaida added in a recorded statement, “Our fighters show great valor and engage in heroic battles that will be immortalized in the pages of history,” noting that they are fighting against a force armed with weapons, equipment, lethal ammunition, and supported by aircraft.
He mentioned that Qassam fighters used anti-fortification shells to demolish houses over the heads of Israeli soldiers, and he emphasized that the enemy is using mercenaries in its operation, claiming it to be an existential war.
Abu Ubaida affirmed that the officially announced numbers of casualties and injuries by the Israeli occupation army are not true, stating, “What we see is the disintegration of the enemy’s army, not the Qassam Brigades.”
