Jordan’s Official Stand: Responding to Israel’s Land Transport Route Through the UAE
Truck routes from Gulf ports to Haifa and back

Watan-The Jordanian authorities have officially responded to information reported by Israeli media regarding the operation of a land transportation route passing through Jordan and reaching Israel.

The Israeli website Walla reported that Israel announced the successful trial operation of a new land transportation route for trucks through the ports of Dubai, passing through Saudi Arabia and Jordan, as an alternative to the Egyptian Suez Canal.

Walla stated, “The trial operation of the new land transportation route for trucks through the ports of Dubai, passing through Saudi Arabia and Jordan, has been successful in recent weeks.”

According to the website, the first ten trucks have completed the long journey from the Arabian Gulf ports to Israel.

It is expected that the land bridge, which has received approval from the Israeli Ministry of Defense and government, will provide a faster alternative for traffic through the Suez Canal. It is anticipated to be faster than the lengthy route for importing goods on ships that are required to detour around the Cape of Good Hope, extending the journey by about three weeks on average to avoid the threat from the Houthi rebels.

A Jordanian response to the Israeli report

However, the Jordanian authorities responded to this information, with the official news agency “Petra” quoting sources from the Ministries of Transport, Industry, and Trade. These sources stated that the news circulating in Hebrew media and social media about the existence of an alternative land bridge to the Red Sea, passing through Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, for transporting goods to Israel, is entirely baseless.

The sources further clarified that the government’s stance is unequivocal in its support for the Palestinian cause and its commitment to standing alongside the Palestinian people through various means.

They denounced the reported claims as unfounded and described them as part of a deliberate effort to undermine Jordan’s steadfast position concerning the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.

Walla had previously reported details of the overland journey from Dubai, highlighting the distance covered, duration, and cost per kilometer. The Jordanian response aims to refute and dismiss these claims, reinforcing the country’s official stance on the matter.
