Watan-The European Parliament member Barry Andrews documented the congestion of trucks at the Rafah Crossing despite the people of Gaza suffering from a severe hunger crisis.
Standing in front of the Rafah Crossing, Andrews stated in a recorded video, ‘This is the main line of trucks. You can see them all along the way back as far as the eye can see, all stopped here along the road heading there, then passing through from here.

Barry Andrews added, “As you see the same thing on the other side along the road as far as the eye can see… So what we are looking at is an absolute farce.”
He continued, “We have just arrived at the Rafah Crossing, and perhaps one truck passes every hour, while 2.3 million people are already suffering from shortages of food, fuel, and medicine.”
Barry Andrews pointed out that access to humanitarian aid is a fundamental right for people in conflict, a right that the people of Gaza have been deprived of. He emphasized that their goal is to draw attention to this humanitarian catastrophe and condemn this injustice.
Sharp Criticism of Egypt
There were sharp criticisms of Egypt for not sufficiently allowing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, despite vast quantities of aid being lined up at the Rafah Crossing. Israel, in a scene described as encroaching on Egyptian sovereignty, controls this aspect of the situation.
The anger towards Egypt increased as the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip worsened during the 75-day war.
The Euro-Mediterranean Observatory for Human Rights documented this catastrophe, stating that 71% of the population of the Gaza Strip suffers from severe levels of hunger.
In a study, the observatory said that 98% of the population in Gaza suffers from insufficient food consumption, and 64% resort to eating grass, fruits, unripe food, and expired items to alleviate hunger.
It added that the rate of water access, including drinking, bathing, and cleaning, is 1.5 liters per person per day in the Gaza Strip.
