Awakening the Palestinian Spirit: The First Statement of the Comprehensive Resistance
Watan-A video clip has circulated on social media platforms, claiming to be the first statement of the Comprehensive Palestinian Resistance in the West Bank. It calls for a comprehensive movement against the occupation and the Palestinian Authority, aiming for change and the formation of a unified leadership council led by Dr. Mustafa Barghouti.
The statement appeals to the Palestinian people in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the diaspora, urging a comprehensive movement for change in those areas after reaching a breaking point with the Israeli occupation and the reality of the Palestinian Authority.

A masked young man appeared in the video, stating, “Today, we are at a decisive moment that will determine the course of our people, obliging each of us to assume our responsibilities according to the dictates of our morals, religion, and patriotism.”
He added, “We are a people who do not forget and are not allowed to forget the bitterness of the Nakba, displacement, migration, the humiliation of diaspora, refuge, years of oppression, injustice, arrests, and the blood of martyrs sacrificed for Palestine.”
The statement continued, “How can we forget the (crimes of the Israeli occupation) as it attacks Gaza, killing and displacing its residents!? … Can we accept leaving Gaza alone to sacrifice tens of thousands of its sons for our freedom!?
The First Statement of the Comprehensive Palestinian Resistance
The young man highlighted in his speech in the new movement, named “The First Statement of the Comprehensive Palestinian Resistance,” the following points:
- The path of freedom paved by the blood of martyrs in Gaza requires us today to take a stance followed by a revolution, a revolution that realigns our compass after falling into the trap called the Palestinian Authority.
- The Palestinian Authority was a state project turned by the occupation into a functional entity whose primary goal is to protect the occupation and act on its behalf in humiliating and persecuting Palestinians, subjecting them to torture.
- This authority, which allowed the occupation to arrest resistance fighters, seize lands, and build settlements in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
- This corrupt authority has turned into a project through which its officials trade their personal interests for the cause of the Palestinian people and their future.
- This dictatorial authority that rules its people with iron and fire, depriving them of their political rights in choosing their representatives.
Freedom and Change Call in the West Bank
The first statement of the Comprehensive Palestinian Resistance in the West Bank addressed the people of those regions: “O people of Palestine, the time we have been waiting for for more than seventy years has come. Will we answer the call for freedom?”
The masked young man continued, addressing the residents of Jerusalem and the West Bank: “We will not remain silent from now on. We will not allow the occupation to oppress us once again, and we will not accept for this authority to remain after all these betrayals.”
The resistance statement emphasized, “The time has come for us to impose our destiny on everyone, to reclaim our national rights, and to cut our ties with the past and with this authority that has been imposed on us forcibly.”
Mustafa Barghouti’s Call to Undertake the Mission
The statement called on Mustafa Barghouti, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, to “undertake the task of establishing a council for change within a period not exceeding ten days, given his national stature.”
The young man mentioned that after its establishment, the council will choose a secretary-general to lead it, and the upcoming Friday “marks the beginning of a new era for the Palestinian people, with million-man marches taking place in every square in Jerusalem and the West Bank.”
The statement appealed to the Palestinians, emphasizing that they have no choice but to “uproot the thorn with their own hands and unleash their energies and potentials without waiting for anyone’s assistance whatsoever.”
