Watan-The Israeli occupation state faces a massive challenge in addressing the psychological disturbances experienced by soldiers due to the war on Gaza and the ground battles involved. The Israeli newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” reported that the rehabilitation department in the occupation army will activate a program to assist soldiers suffering from psychological disorders due to the war in Gaza.
This comes in the aftermath of a video circulating of an Israeli soldier stating that he urinated on himself and almost killed his wife due to the horror he is going through as a result of the war on Gaza. The newspaper quoted officials in the rehabilitation department as saying that teams of nurses and psychologists will be formed to deal with “suicidal tendencies” in order to assess soldiers suffering from psychological disorders.
It emphasized that the war on Gaza imposes an unbearable cost on lives, physical injuries, and psychological disorders, especially among disabled soldiers.
Israeli soldiers are experiencing psychological traumas
The Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” previously revealed that more than 2,800 soldiers have been treated in the rehabilitation department of the Israeli Ministry of Defense since the beginning of the “Operation Guardian of the Walls” battle.
The newspaper reported that 18% of these soldiers are facing mental health difficulties and post-traumatic disorders. The Israeli newspaper “Maariv” also previously disclosed psychological and physical problems faced by occupation soldiers, especially reservists, due to the war on Gaza.
A soldier urinating on himself due to the fear of the war in Gaza has caused a stir in recent hours
In a press conference, Israeli soldier Avihai Levi spoke with anger and extreme panic about the horrors he witnessed during the fighting with the army advancing into the Gaza Strip.
Levi said, “I urinate on myself at night out of fear, and I only sleep after drinking a whole bottle of alcohol a day.” He added that he still imagines things from the war, saying, “I imagine the shells now, I imagine RPGs flying over my head, I imagine myself inside the bulldozer fighting and smelling the scent of corpses. Now I am collecting the wounded with my own hands.”
He talked about his personal problems, stating, “I have become addicted to alcohol, my debts have exceeded 800,000 shekels. Why don’t you take responsibility? Get me out of this garbage you put me in during this period.”
