Israeli Reservist’s Emotional Plea: Tears at Knesset Stir Controversy
Leor Moshayov

Watan-A video has circulated of an Israeli reservist returning from combat in the Shejaiya front in the Gaza Strip, crying in front of the Finance Committee in the Knesset.

The soldier, identified as Leor Moshayev, addressed those present, saying, “We are fighting on your behalf in Gaza, all our businesses have collapsed, I don’t have money to buy milk for my daughter, and my fridge is empty.

He added that he and his brother, on October 7th, he in the Golan Brigade and his brother in the north, were under rocket bombardment. He mentioned that he fought just days ago in Shejaiya and it seems that he will return there.

He continued, “We have collapsed, we didn’t think twice when we were drafted on the first day,” describing the collapse of his business and characterizing his situation as catastrophic. He said, “When I go out, I don’t know how to finance my day, I’m afraid to pay for my daughter’s milk with a credit card. The fridge is empty.”

He pointed out that he hasn’t received a single shekel while risking his life, with bullets passing over his head.

The soldier’s statements caused a stir in Israeli society, especially regarding voices calling for the cessation of the war on Gaza and advocating for negotiations to release the prisoners and detainees from Gaza.

Significant Losses for the Israeli Army in Gaza

The Israeli army continues to incur significant losses during confrontations with Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip. On Wednesday, the Israeli army acknowledged the deaths of 3 soldiers, including an officer, in the ongoing battles in northern Gaza.

This comes after previously announcing the deaths of 5 officers and soldiers, including a company commander in the Nahal Brigade elite forces, along with the injury of 43 others, including 9 in serious condition, in the battles in Gaza over the past hours.

According to the latest data, the number of casualties in the ranks of the Israeli army has risen to 170 officers and soldiers who have fallen in the ground operation in Gaza that began in late October of last year.

Meanwhile, the overall number since the ‘Operation Aqsa Torrent’ on October 7th of last year has risen to 498, including officers and soldiers.
