Watan-An Israeli officer kidnapped a Palestinian infant from the Gaza Strip after her family was killed in the intense bombardment carried out by the army on the Gaza Strip for the past three months.

Soldier Shahar Mendelson revealed the kidnapping incident during an interview with the army radio last Sunday, discussing his friend, the officer in the Givati Brigade, Har’el Itai Gatach, who was killed in battles in northern Gaza on November 22.

In response to a question about the Palestinian baby, Mendelson said, “Itai spoke with a friend during his service in Gaza and told him that in one of the houses he entered, he heard the crying of a baby, and he decided to send her to Israel.” He did not specify the location of the house where Gatach found the Palestinian child in Gaza.

When asked if the soldier found the baby crying and decided to send her to Israel, Mendelson responded, “He brought her to Israel.”

Regarding whether the baby’s family was likely killed by an Israeli airstrike and if anyone was around them, Mendelson replied, “True.”

The fate of the infant is unknown

The fate of the Palestinian infant remains unclear, and neither the Israeli soldier nor the Israeli army radio has clarified what happened to her.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health expresses concern that thousands of Palestinians may still be under the rubble due to Israeli airstrikes.

It is not clear whether this is an isolated kidnapping incident or if there are similar incidents.

Officer Har’el Itai Gatach was killed in battles in northern Gaza on November 22. Since the capturing officer was killed on November 22, the kidnapping incident occurred before that date.

The Israeli news site “Walla” quoted a friend of the officer during his funeral on Sunday, saying, “Har’el told me that he heard the cries of a child in Gaza (…) and made sure to transfer her to a hospital in Israel for treatment,” without specifying the hospital’s name.

Neither of the soldiers mentioned the reason for not delivering the captured officer to Palestinian hospitals or to the close relatives of the house.

  1. He didn’t kidnap her, he saved her. What was he supposed to do leave her? Was he supposed to walk to up Hamas and hand her over and then get shot? Stop being stupid.
