In a distressing clip, a Palestinian child was seen screaming in pain, having suffered severe burns as a result of an Israeli airstrike targeting a home in the central Gaza Strip.

The tragic toll on the children of Gaza is immense

In addition to around ten thousand martyrs who lost their lives due to the brutal Israeli airstrikes, more than one and a half million displaced children in Gaza face harsh conditions in tents, shelters, and displaced persons’ schools. They are at risk of famine and exposure to drought.

Moreover, they are threatened by numerous diseases due to the absence of necessary healthcare, and the lack of access to healthy food or personal safety within those overcrowded centers.

In this context, the Head of the Public Health Department at the University of Edinburgh, Devi Sridhar, stated that the war on Gaza is the most lethal for children. About 160 children were reported to have died daily in December, according to the World Health Organization.

She added that the rates of diarrhea among children in Gaza camps have exceeded normal levels by more than 100 times since the beginning of November. This indicates the possibility of dehydration and direct mortality.
