Watan-Former Israeli captive, previously held by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip, opened fire on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Israeli ex-prisoner, Aviva Adriana Siegel (62 years old), released from Gaza after 51 days, while her husband Keith remains detained, accused Netanyahu of seeking personal glory for himself at the expense of the detainees through winning the war.

In an interview with the American news channel BBC NewsHour, Aviva Adriana Siegel expressed her fear that the Israeli government’s desire to win the war in Gaza is at the expense of the detainees.

She stated, “I have a feeling that Netanyahu wants the war to continue because he wants to win the war,” pointing out that he cannot continue the war and release the prisoners at the same time.

Aviva Adriana Siegel continued, “Netanyahu needs to reach a ceasefire and then release them (the detainees), and he should release them now as quickly as possible because 88 days are enough.”

When asked if she believes Netanyahu prioritizes winning the war over releasing the detainees, Siegel answered, “I have a feeling that this is the reason for the continuation of the war; he wants to win the war.”

Aviva Adriana Siegel spoke about her husband Keith, who is detained in Gaza, saying, “I am strong for Keith now, but I want him back… He is 64 years old, suffering from health problems, and he needs to get out now along with all the others (detainees).”

John Kirby, the Strategic Communications Coordinator at the National Security Council, stated during a press conference on Wednesday evening that the talks on the release of Israeli detainees in the Gaza Strip are “ongoing and serious.” However, he did not disclose the results of these talks, especially since the Palestinian resistance has linked it to the cessation of the war in Gaza and the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails.
