Strategic Shift: Anticipating Occupation Forces’ Withdrawal from Southern Gaza
The Israeli occupation in Gaza

Watan-The military expert, Major General Fayez al-Dweiri, provided an analysis of the developments in the field and the military situation in the Gaza Strip, against the backdrop of intensified clashes between the Palestinian resistance and the occupation army.

During his analysis on Al Jazeera channel, Major General al-Dweiri stated that the battles reported by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas,” in the northern areas of the Gaza Strip indicate that the battles are nearing completion in this part.

He added that the battles in the south also will not continue for more than two weeks if the resistance maintains the same performance.

Al-Dweiri’s statements came in response to footage released by Al-Qassam Brigades, targeting Israeli tanks in the Tuffah and Daraj neighborhoods from an extremely close distance, while the resistance is also engaged in fierce battles in the central and southern areas of the Strip.

Al-Dweiri explained that Israeli forces have begun withdrawing even from the Jabal al-Rees area (northern Gaza), where they had been fighting for days.

He pointed out that this withdrawal is part of the transition to the third phase of the ground operation, likely to include specific areas or targets.

The renowned military expert clarified that the current battles are concentrated in the central areas, especially in the Bureij neighborhood, where Israeli forces are seeking to penetrate the depths of the Maghazi, Zawaida, and Maghaziya regions.

He reported that these forces have received signals that Maghazi will be similar to the stubborn Rooster’s Den in the north, prompting them to renew the attack on it.

On the southern front, Fayez al-Dweiri confirmed that Israeli forces are still facing fierce resistance in Qarara, Abasan, and Bani Suheila, exercising extreme caution because they are well aware that the number of tunnels in these areas may be several times that of the tunnels in the north.

The occupation army did not achieve its goals in Gaza

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz previously revealed that the occupation army has not yet achieved any of the war’s objectives in the Gaza Strip, according to statements from members of the Ministerial Security Cabinet.

This comes amid intensifying internal disputes in Israel regarding who bears responsibility for the security and military failure in the face of Operation Guardian of the Al-Aqsa.

The newspaper reported that members of the Ministerial Security Cabinet acknowledged that the capabilities of the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” are intact and functioning, and that its military leaders are alive. Additionally, the majority of the tunnels have not been destroyed yet.

According to the newspaper, officials also confirmed that disarming Hamas would require several more months, and the movement still controls the Gaza Strip despite three months of war.

The fate of the Israeli prisoners

Regarding the fate of Israeli prisoners in Gaza, Israeli officials stated that half of the prisoners are still held by the Hamas movement, with the Israeli army unable to recover any captive through the ground operation in the sector.

On the other hand, Israeli Channel 12 reported from high-level sources in the Israeli occupation army their displeasure with what they called the ‘warfare of the ministerial staff’ against them, clarifying that the army is fighting in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, but the government is fighting against them, according to their expression.

Israeli ministers revealed attempts within the occupation government to shift responsibility for the events of October 7th onto the security establishment. They saw the attack on the security establishment, planned in coordination with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as a threat to the Israeli emergency government.

Ministers in the government (whose names were not disclosed) stated that Netanyahu and other ministers are actively trying to build a narrative that blames the security apparatus for Operation Guardian of the Al-Aqsa.
