Decline in Netanyahu’s US Popularity: Insights from Recent Surveys

Watan-The Hebrew website “Walla” published a survey conducted by the “Gallup” foundation, revealing an unprecedented decline in the popularity of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the United States. This marks the lowest result for Netanyahu as Prime Minister since the Gallup Institute began polling Americans about their opinion of him in 1997, whether positively or negatively, according to the website.

The source explained that only 33% of the American public has a positive opinion of Benjamin Netanyahu, while 47% hold a negative view.

The majority of Americans are dissatisfied with Netanyahu

Additionally, among Americans who consider themselves Republicans, 55% have a positive opinion of Netanyahu.

For Democrats, only 14% have a positive opinion, and among those who identify as independents, 30% have a positive opinion of the Israeli Prime Minister.

The Hebrew newspaper “Maariv” had reported another survey conducted in the United States, revealing concerning results regarding American support for the war on Hamas in Gaza.

According to the newspaper, public sympathy for Israel remains high among Americans, with 80% of the public continuing to support Israel. However, they also support a ceasefire.

The Hebrew newspaper quoted Dr. Yitzhak Mansdorf from the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA), stating that nearly a third of the American public holds anti-Israel views in light of the war in Gaza.

Occupation media loses trust among Americans

Maariv explained that some supporters of Israel doubt the claims, announcements, and data provided by the Israeli occupation regarding the events in Gaza.

According to the results, more than 24% of the participants in the survey believe that reports related to sexual assaults against Israeli women by Hamas are exaggerated and do not align with reality, while 35% are uncertain about it.

Additionally, over 21% of the participants agreed that Jews “use” the Holocaust to gain global sympathy, while 26% chose not to express their opinion on the matter.

Regarding Hamas launching rockets towards Israeli cities, 22% stated that Hamas primarily targeted Israeli military objectives. When asked about the day after the war, around 28% claimed that Israel is more interested in peace than the Palestinians, while more than 34% said that neither party is interested in peace.
