Watan-“What does Israel want from Wael al-Dahdouh?” – Palestinian journalist Majed Abdul Hadi raises this question at the beginning of his report on the martyrdom of Hamza Wael al-Dahdouh, the son of his colleague at Al-Jazeera channel. Hamza, along with his colleague Mustafa Thraya, was martyred on Sunday in a missile strike on the city of Khan Yunis.
Majed Abdul Hadi stated in his report, as documented by “Watan,” that Israel, an armed state, has sent its army to Gaza with the alleged goal of eliminating the Hamas movement and recovering its captured soldiers from there.
However, the harvest of its bombs has not achieved more than killing thousands of innocent civilians in over three months.
The report continued, presenting a scene of the grieving journalist Wael al-Dahdouh holding and kissing the hand of his deceased son in front of him. Al-Dahdouh, the father, is a correspondent for Al Jazeera, a channel that possesses no weapons other than pens, cameras, and microphones.
It continued, “Al Jazeera, through its correspondents, documents and captures images of battles, massacres, and destruction, consistently reflecting what media has been doing since the first newspaper in history.”

“A Tale of Revenge”
The report continued, stating that the story appears to be a tale of revenge between a state and a man. Occupation returns to target the life of Dahdouh and his family three consecutive times, the latest of which claimed the life of his eldest son.
“After being injured in the first incident, his colleague, the cameraman of Al Jazeera, Samer Abu Dahka, was killed a few weeks after burying his wife, son, daughter, and grandson who were martyred along with several relatives in an Israeli airstrike.”
“Silence or Death”
Majed Abdul Hadi continued in his report about the Al-Duhduh family, “Is it a coincidence or the side effects of war? – as some may claim – the defenders of the crime in its first occurrence. However, its repetition in this manner will give it another name in the opinion of those who believe it reflects a determination to silence Palestinian journalists in Gaza or force them to choose between silence or death. Because they have succeeded in exposing Israeli falsehoods to the global public.”
Abdul Hadi concluded his report by stating that “Wael Al-Duhduh” has become a shining example of systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists.
“Wael Al-Duhduh: A Mountain, Not a Man”
Wael Al-Duhduh stated after the martyrdom of his son Hamza: “We continue despite the sadness and loss, remaining committed to this path that we chose voluntarily and watered with blood.”
Al-Duhduh added that a person mourns and suffers for the loss, “so how about the eldest son?” pointing out that his son Hamza meant everything to him, and these are “tears of sorrow and separation, not tears of fear and panic. We hope that God is pleased with us and includes us among the patient.”
Wael Al-Duhduh emphasized that this is the reality of Palestinians bidding farewell to their martyred loved ones, urging the world to look at what is happening in the Gaza Strip and what the people and journalists there are going through, calling on the world to put an end to this massacre.
