Watan-In light of the upcoming trial of Israel before the International Court of Justice for the crimes committed in the Gaza Strip, a new move against the occupying state is looming on the horizon amid a state of dormancy dominating Arab countries.
Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium Petra De Sutter stated that her country cannot remain silent regarding the immense humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. De Sutter, a representative of the Flemish Green Party in the ruling coalition, added that she will propose to her government to follow in the footsteps of South Africa in filing a lawsuit against the occupying state before the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
De Sutter wrote in a post on her “X” platform account: “Belgium cannot stand idly by and watch the immense humanitarian suffering in Gaza, and we must act against the danger of genocide.”
Belgium cannot stand by and watch the immense human suffering in Gaza. We must act against the threat of genocide.
I want Belgium to take action at the International Court of Justice, following the lead of South Africa.
I will propose this within the Belgian government. #begov

She added, “I want Belgium to take action before the International Court of Justice, similar to what South Africa did. I will propose this within the Belgian government.”
The announcement of the Belgian initiative comes just before the hearings at the International Court of Justice in the “genocide” case filed by South Africa against Israel, scheduled for January 11 and 12.
The Ministry of Justice in South Africa announced that Minister Ronald Lamola would lead the country’s delegation at the International Court of Justice in The Hague during the hearings in the case brought by the African state against Israeli occupation.
South Africa intends to work towards ending the genocide in Gaza
South Africa accuses the occupying state of committing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Bolivia officially joined the support for this lawsuit, while the Arab states remained silent, sparking a wave of condemnation.
Lamola stated in a press release that his country is determined to end the genocide in Gaza through this lawsuit. He added that South Africa draws strength from world leaders who stand on the right side of history.
