Watan-The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, have released footage and scenes showing their fighters engaging with Israeli military vehicles and soldiers in various sectors of Khan Yunis city in the southern Gaza Strip, some of them from point-blank range.
The Palestinian resistance targeted more Israeli vehicles in the streets of Khan Yunis, in addition to hitting soldiers positioned in one of the buildings.
Al-Qassam fighters clashed with Israeli soldiers using light weapons and shelled a tank that seemed to be loaded with explosives.
Targeting for the sake of “Saleh Al-Aarouri”
Some footage showed intense scenes from point-blank moments when a Qassam fighter targeted a Merkava tank, then another one from the rooftop of a building.
While shelling a Merkava tank from point-blank range, one of the fighters mentioned it was “for Sheikh Saleh, may Allah have mercy on him,” referring to the Hamas leader Saleh Al-Aarouri who was martyred weeks ago in an Israeli airstrike in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The military wing of Hamas earlier announced on Saturday, January 13, 2024, that they targeted Israeli settlements near Gaza with a new rocket barrage.
They also reported killing and injuring members of 4 Israeli infantry groups, targeting 6 Merkava tanks, a helicopter, an armored personnel carrier, and a bulldozer in battles in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army had previously announced the deaths of 9 soldiers and officers in the explosion of an armored personnel carrier loaded with explosives, which they claimed was accidentally fired upon by one of the tanks.
