Embarrassing Prosecution: Israel’s Accusations Against Egypt Elicit Strong Reactions

Watan-The extensive reactions followed the statements of the Israeli legal team before the International Court of Justice, which included an accusation against Egypt of participating in the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, a claim that Cairo denied.

During the prosecution session of the Israeli occupation’s defense team before the International Court of Justice, lawyer Christopher Staker claimed that Egypt is responsible for the Rafah crossing, capable of allowing aid to enter, and it bears the responsibility for the worsening situation in Gaza.

He alleged during his arguments in court that Israel did not prevent the entry of aid, and Egypt could have allowed aid into Gaza from the first day of the war.

Widespread Reaction

These Israeli statements have sparked extensive reactions. Palestinian journalist and editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Watan,” Nazem Al-Mahdawi, addressed Sisi, saying, “If you were a man, respond to the Zionist lies. They are now declaring to the world that Egypt is a Palestinian crossing. Prove their lies wrong and send tons of aid piled up in Arish. Bring out thousands of the wounded, and there are many countries ready to treat them. Mobilize your committees and media outlets, and prove that you are honest and trustworthy.”

In another post, he wrote: “Sisi’s committees have been mobilized to deny the logic and foundation that many have spoken about since the first day of the Al-Aqsa flood. Legally, the Rafah crossing is an Egyptian-Palestinian crossing, and whoever closes it and succumbs to the will of the Zionists is the coup leader Sisi.”

He added: “We didn’t need the testimony of the Zionists in this matter, but whoever besieged and prevented aid and blocked the treatment of the wounded in Gaza is the Zionists themselves. Exposing him in front of everyone reveals his value to them.

And the Egyptian opposition media figure Osama Gawish stated: “This video is a major disgrace and clear evidence of condemnation for the Abdel Fattah el-Sisi regime. Israel has no control over the Egyptian borders with the Gaza Strip. The Egyptian borders with Gaza are under Egyptian supervision.”

The prominent Qatari activist, “Bouqanem,” wrote: “As long as we have said and repeated… Sisi was manufactured to protect Israel’s security.”

Human rights activist Hossam Bahgat said: “No sane person believes Israel’s narrative that Egypt is preventing the stacked aid from crossing the border to Arish. But where is the diplomatic escalation after three months of failed pleas and appeals? How do we leverage Israel’s statement today that the crossing from Egypt to Gaza is under our sovereignty? Between complicity or war, there is a third option called escalation; otherwise, we are partners.”

The broadcaster Hossam Yahya also reacted, saying: “Egypt always uses the excuse that it does not open the Rafah crossing because it is partially subject to Israel and that it cannot bring in aid without its permission. Israel has revealed the shame of the Egyptian officials and stated that the crossing is entirely under Egypt’s control. Egypt’s simplest response to deny the accusation would be to fully open the crossing for aid and the transfer of the wounded.”

Egypt had denied the Israeli narrative and accused the occupation state of hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
